Early Intervention
Early intervention is a service for infants and toddlers aged 0-3 years, as well as their parents and families. Early intervention should be utilized when there is a risk for delays in communication, cognition, social-emotional development, and gross/fine motor skills. Early intervention is essential to “catching up” when the delay is small rather than waiting to start services until a child is older and the gap in knowledge is much larger.

Speech Sound Disorders
Speech sound disorders are those that impact how a child says their sounds, and how understandable they are. If you're child can't say certain sounds, or you feel the need to "translate" for them, they may have a speech sound disorder.
-
Language Delays
Language is used to understand what others are saying and to express our own thoughts and feelings. Children can have delays in expressive language, receptive language, or both. If they are having difficulty naming common objects, following directions, or talking to other kids, they may have a language delay.

Specialized Reading Intervention
According to the International Dyslexia Association, roughly 1 in 5 people has a language-based learning disability. We utilize evidence-based structured literacy intervention to evaluate literacy skills and create a plan to address deficits and delays. Speech language pathologists are trained in phonological awareness strategies; additionally, we have been trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to treating dyslexia. This is a program that is perfect for kindergarten through fifth grade students who are showing signs of dyslexia, as well as those who are falling behind in school and have a history of speech/language delays which are now impacting their reading.
